Immigrant Visas

New York Immigration and Naturalization Attorney

Most people from other nations who ultimately want to live permanently in the United States must go through a long process. Often, this process involves acquiring a nonimmigrant visa first, and maintaining legal status over a period of years. The next step is to get an immigrant visa.

In other cases, special circumstances enable an aspiring U.S. immigrant to successfully apply for an immigrant visa sooner, effectively accelerating the process for becoming a legal permanent resident (LPR).

I have represented clients in successful application processes for a full range of immigrant visa types. These include:

  • EB5 "millionaire investor" visas, available to persons able to invest $1 million in an active business that creates at least 10 full-time jobs
  • EB1 status for persons of sustained, documented extraordinary ability in a scientific, scholarly, artistic, or other specialized field

In addition to successfully handling many immigrant visa applications, I have handled other clients' EB2 National Interest Waivers, enabling people who can make a substantial contribution to the U.S. economy, environment, national health, or other major field to attain permanent residency (green card naturalization) more quickly. This process does not require labor certification, but it does require specialized documentation of the immigrant's achievements and skills.

U.S. immigration laws and practices have long been complex, and today they are also changing rapidly. A successful lawyer in the immigration field must be knowledgeable about legal history and longstanding processes, but also be highly aware of how things get done for employers today. When I see a need to document specialized business skills or interpret company finances, I consult with co-counsel who concentrates on business law and accounting, taking every step to ensure the success of your work visa applications. I have been associated with Jeffrey Ray Cohen, Esq., of North Miami Beach, Florida, for the past 30 years. Jeffrey is a CPA and attorney admitted to practice in both New York and Florida, and maintains his offices at 297 Sunny Isles Blvd., North Miami Beach, Florida, 33160. He can be contacted at (305) 940-1985.

If you think you may qualify for an immigrant visa, due to family circumstances, employment offers, your notable accomplishments, or your financial resources and business intentions, you will need the services of an immigration attorney with experience handling cases like yours. Contact the offices of lawyer Carol Wolfenson for an appointment to discuss your needs and goals.
